Through inheritance or other circumstance, you may have gems or gold that can be used in the new piece of jewelry. While it is not always technically advisable, often the old gold can be directly recycled into the new piece, especially if there are sentimental reasons for doing so. Even gold that would not be good for direct recycling can be traded at salvage value for a new gold alloy, thus helping with the cost of the project. |
